5 Best A4 To Do List Pad

What is a to-do list and why you should use it?

As the name, a to-do list is a list of all the important and urgent tasks which you have to do.

I know you know all that but, do you know what most people misunderstand here.

No, don’t worry we’ll discuss these out.

Most of the people when they are making a to do list,

First, they don’t set a priority level, I’m not talking about you but most of people don’t.

Why?

Because they don’t know Pareto principle. They think all tasks are equally important and want to complete all the tasks.

Second, some of those who understand Pareto principle, don’t understand the difference between tasks which are important but not urgent and tasks which are important and urgent.

So what if they don’t understand the difference?

They just end up doing tasks which aren’t urgent and unable to complete the tasks which are urgent.

Third, most of the people either don’t set a deadline or clearly mention how much they want to achieve. For example, if a student is making a to do list, they write it as ‘study maths’ but instead, you must mention your goals clearly, that is ‘complete 2nd exercise of 4th chapter’. You can even go to the no. of questions too.

There are some more minor mistakes, which I’ll cover in a different post and make the link available here.

A to-do list is a list that contains, all your daily goals which are noted in a priority level with reference to their importance and level of urgency.

I hope now you have a clear idea, what a to-do list actually is. If still have any query, then you can ask in the comment section.

Why you should use a to-do list?

There are many things which a to-do list can help you with.

There are some reasons why you should use a to do list:

  • A to-do list makes you more organized.
  • A to-do list increase your productivity, that’s why I’m recommending you this.
  • A to-do list gives you a direction for the most important and urgent tasks which you need to finish.
  • A to-do list relives you from remembering the tasks, more importantly the tasks via priority level.
  • A to-do list improves your time management skills.

There are many more reasons, but I don’t think anyone needs any more reason for doing a thing.

A man always has two reasons for doing anything: a good reason and the real reason.

J. P. Morgan

It’ll take only a few dollars to try but can help you make millions out of it.

When you should NOT use a to-do list?

I know many of you will be surprised, that why you shouldn’t use a to-do list?

But look carefully, the topic is when you shouldn’t use a to-do list?

There are some cases in which a better option is available let’s check them out…

First,

There are two ways by which someone plans their day, by tasks and focusing on one thing or by fixing specific time for specific tasks.

I personally use the first one, take one task, and complete it before taking any other tasks in hand(at least I try to reach the goal if the task require different shifts).

If you are a person who is comfortable with working on a task within a specific time period than you should use calendar daily planer. You can see 5 best calendar daily planners from below link:

Also Read –5 Best Calendar Daily Planners.

Why I don’t use this?

Suppose, my first task(most important and urgent) is marked to be completed between 9:00 am to 11:00 am. But for any reason I am busy with something else. What will happen?

I will not be able to do the task in the whole day. Because if I do I have to change my whole schedule.

What can I do for this?

I can make my schedule flexible.

But, it’s better that I use a flexible to do list without any time boundaries, but with deadlines.

PRO TIP - If you can afford, then try out both of these and find out the best suitable for you. Or you can continue with both of them too. You can checkout the 5 best combinations on below link.

Second,

The second scenario when you shouldn’t use a to-do list, is when you aren’t serious about your goals or you don’t have any goals in your life.

Why?

Because, ultimately you are going to QUIT!

I’m not demotivating you, but you must have a goal before planning for achieving that goals.

You should use a to-do list for achieving goals, not for just checking out the tasks.

How to use a to-do list?

We have already discussed above, the mistakes which most people do when they are using to-do list.

Now, we will be discussing how you should use to-do list, avoiding those mistakes.

Note – I’ll making it short. You can read the full article about : How to make a to-do list that actually helps you to do by clicking here.

Take Pen and Notepad

Are you joking?

No, I’m not. I know this seems obvious, but many people make to-do list in their minds.

Minds?

Hmm they think they can remember it all, and it’s same after all.

But it isn’t.

Take a pen and notepad, why not any app?

You can use one, but a physical thing is way better for to-do lists.

Note down the tasks as soon as you think of them

You can’t remember or know all tasks when you are making your to-do list, so, note them when you have the chance.

Remember to set the priority level, with most priority tasks which are both important and urgent.

Tasks or Daily goals not Goals

What does it mean?

You have to put the daily tasks on your to-do list, even if you have to put goals, then write only daily goals. Never put your long term goals in your to-do list, include them in journals.

Why?

Because you are making a to-do list, not to-achieve list.

Give yourself Deadlines

Yup, you have to.

It’s important to keep a check on time, as time is the most valuable asset of human life.

Also ReadImportance of Time Management

So give yourself due dates and work accordingly.

Make it simple, make it effective!

Simplicity is the best Creativity.

Make your to-do list simple, so that you can scan it at a glance.

Because you have to look at your to-do list often.

Be Kind to Yourself!

Never put infinitely many tasks, to your to-do list.

Because you have only 24 hours, just try to complete the most important and urgent tasks.

Follow the 80/20 rule.

Give yourself enough rest, because there are 365 days in a year.

PRO TIP - Use Different To-do lists for different things, for example:

1. List for your daily tasks
2. List for your weekly goals.
3. List for someday tasks, which you are going to do someday, unimportant ones, etc.
